Some say they are mother nature s perfect protein But are eggs really all that they are cracked up to be MedCenter One Dietician Nicole Enzminger says eggs are a great source of protein because the amino acids are easily digested and the protein is more efficiently absorbed Enzminger says the lutein and ziathin in eggs can also be helpful for decreasing your risk of developing macular degeneration But she says you do have to watch how many you eat due to the saturated fat content Nicole Enzminger MedCenter One Dietician Oee egg does have two grams of saturated fat so you do have to be concious of that An egg white has three grams of protein and no fat and no cholesterol so you can still get some of the amino acids from the egg white but it is the yolk that has the lutein and ziathin that can be helpful for macular degeneration Enzminger recommends only 2 to 4 eggs a week for those with heart disease or diabetes She says for those without cholesterol or health problems you can include eggs can in your diet more frequently
