Area third and fourth graders are getting a behind-the-scenes look at healthcare this week As part of National Hospital Week Trinity Health is opening its doors to elementary students providing a living classroom so the kids can learn about various hospital departments Karna Lillebo has more in this week s Eye on education Bel Air third graders from Minot attended Trinity Hospital s Hands-On Health living classroom this morning True to the name the kids got their hands on all sorts of hospital equipment from microscopes to surgical instruments Quinn Greenheck 3rd Grader We re taking turns trying to get like bones out and if you you cannot touch the sides Trinity s Education Coordinator Sue Evenson says she hopes the activities in the living classroom will achieve two goals Sue Evenson Trinity Education Coordinator One if they need to go to the doctor what to expect anticipation sometimes of what s gonna happenthe experience of thatand then two get them interested in a career in healthcare In fact I think there may actually be a couple of future doctors in this group Ethan Benham 3rd Grader First of all you get to save lives sometimes from Diabetes and other diseases and you get to work with cool stuff like microscopes Future doctors or not it s easy to see these third graders had some fun today and maybe even learned a thing or two in the midst of it Karna Lillebo KX News Around 325 third and fourth graders from seven area schools will visit the living classroom that started yesterday and continues through tomorrow
