School nurses in short supply in North Dakota

North Dakota falls way short of the number of nurses to students when compared to the rest of the nation Nationwide there is one nurse to every 750 students In North Dakota its one school nurse for every three thousand five hundred students Evy Monzelowsky says more school nurses are needed because there s an increase in kids who have special health needs daily Evy Monzelowsky Bismarck School Nurse We do have more students that carry epi-pens because they are severly allergic to something we have more students that have asthma about 10 of the students that goes along with the national average greater number of kids with diabetes and younger students with diabetes Monzelowsky says they ve asked legislators for the past four sessions for more school nurses She says healthy students learn better Today is National School Nurse Day
